Whenever the British car maker drops the news of its new launch it leaves people with awe. Yes, it’s none other than the Land rover which is set to launch its Range rover velar in India.

Land rover is one of the finest SUV makers in the world today. Various attributes of car makes it look more modern and sophisticated. The name ‘Velar’ has been derived from the Latin word ‘velaris’ which means ‘to cover or veil’. Car will be made available in both petrol and diesel variant. So let’s check out on some additional features before it releases on 21’st September 2017.

1. Engine

Looks complicated! Isn’t it??

The new Range Rover Velar comes with two petrol engines one is a 2-litre turbocharged four-cylinder unit and second one is a 3-litre supercharged V6. The smaller engine has power output of 247BHP and torque output of 365Nm.The bigger engine has power output of 375BHP and torque output of 450Nm. Both engines have been mated with 8-speed automatic gearboxes which have been sourced from ZF. The smaller petrol engine version will be launched initially followed by the bigger petrol engine version.

There will be Range Rover Velar three diesel engine variants available – two with four-cylinder option and one with V6 option. Out of the two four-cylinder option one option is a twin-turbocharged unit. Both the four-cylinder engines displace 2 litres where the twin -turbocharged units has power of 237BHP and torque of 500Nm whereas single turbocharged unit has power of 178BHP and torque of 430Nm. The V6 turbocharged variant is par excellence.

It has powerful output of 296BHP and torque output of 700Nm. All these engines have been mated with 8-speed automatic gearbox sourced from ZF. The two of the four-cylinder option are to be launched initially followed by the launch of V6 variant.

2. Exterior Design

The Range Rover Velar’s exterior design looks very neat, classic and elite. The styling of the car has been done keeping every possible detail in mind. The car’s hood has the fine creases and the outline of the hood leads smoothly into the character lines of the car on the either sides.

The car has narrow pull-back headlamps, wide grille and the big air dam. The car has nine-spoke wheels and they are not bulgy as compared to the typical SUV which is a great feature. The rear view of the car looks quite athletic where the wrap-around tail-lamps go from one end to the other. The number plate has been placed at the tailgate where in it has badges of Land Rover and Velar on either side. The rear bumper has a skid plate with one exhaust tip on each of the side. The exhaust tips are partially outlined by a brushed aluminum insert on the skid plate.

3. Interior Design

The standout point of the Range Rover Velar is its interior. It is free from buttons it has two touch sensitive touch-screens on the centre console. The steering wheel also has touch sensitive areas which help to trigger functions from the wheel itself. The instrument cluster is a digital unit which measure 12.3 inches and has three different modes dual dial, single dial and extended.

The car has a 10-inch infotainment unit on the dashboard and one more similar unit below it. the Range Rover Velar brings in some amazing feature like toggling A/c controls, dashboard with piano black inserts in between the centre and right side A/c vents, controlling heating and cooling of the seats, other functions like playing music on one infotainment unit and controlling it through another display. All these functions of Land rover range rover velar make it extra special giving it sharp and uncluttered look.

4. Mileage


Land rover range rover velar is said to give mileage of around 18.0 kmpl on the highway and 14.0 kmpl in the city.

5. Price


Land Rover Range Rover Velar is said to be priced within the range of Rs 75.00 lakh – Rs 80.00 lakh for the smaller versions whereas the later release of bigger versions would be priced somewhere around Rs 1.10 crore – Rs 1.18 crore.
