Shakib Al Hasan is not going to feature in the Caribbean Premier League because of national duty. Glenn Phillips, however, is going to replace the Bangladeshi All-Rounder. He joined the Jamaica squad on August 8 and is now all set to replace Shakib Al Hasan.
Glenn Phillips will be the seventh Kiwi to feature in this edition of CPL.
Shakib is returning to the Bangladesh camp for their upcoming two-match test series against Australia. With this, we might see Glenn Phillips in the playing XI in a few games. Glenn Phillips was the leading run-scorer in the McDonald’s Super Smash which earned him a T20I cap for New Zealand. Phillips scored 369 runs at a strike rate of 143. He made his debut against South Africa in Auckland earlier this year. However, he failed to make an impact in the only T20I he played. Phillips also registered for this year’s CPL but went unsold because other franchises focused on retaining their old players.
With this, he becomes only the seventh Kiwi to feature in this season of Caribbean Premier League. Other five Kiwis are:
- Jesse Ryder (St. Lucia Stars)
- Mitchell McClenaghan (St. Lucia Stars)
- Brendon McCullum (Trinbago Knight Riders)
- Colin Munro (Trinbago Knight Riders)
- Kane Williamson (Barbados Tridents)
- Martin Guptill (Guyana Amazon Warriors)
Glenn Phillips will look to make an impact in the Caribbean Premier League. We might see the skills possessed by this destructive Kiwi opener
