Arsenal has beaten Leicester City after a match full of controversies, goals and comebacks. Alexandre Lacazette also scored a goal on his debut with Jamie Vardy being awarded with the Man of the match prize for his two cracking goals.

What an opening game we had last night as Arsenal and Leicester produced a seven-goal thriller in the opening day of the new season of Barclays Premier League. Alexandre Lacazette scored a perfect header in just 94 seconds with his first shot and second touch of the game after a delicious pass from Mohamed Elneny in to the box.

But, the injured defenders were missed a lot as Arsenal showed terrible piece of defending with Nacho Monreal getting completely unknown of what he was doing after being placed from right-back’s position to centre-back.

Marc Albrington sends a perfect ball into the box and whole Arsenal defence missed that looping ball. But, the more sad part is that arguably the shortest man on the pitch Shinji Okazaki scored a header as he out-jumped Granit Xhaka.

The night went from bad to worse for Xhaka as he gives away a misplaced pass to Marc Albrington. Who made no mistake in delivering an inch-perfect ball into the feet of Jamie Vardy and Vardy made no mistake in scoring a cracking one-touch goal.

Just before half-time, Danny Welbeck scored the equaliser as Lacazette’s shot found its way pass the legs of Leicester players and Welbeck found himself onside and all alone in front of Kasper Schmeichel and scored a cool equaliser.

Jamie Vardy scored again after the half-time in the 56th min. of the game after a perfect corner from Riyad Mahrez and this was the time when Arsenal fans lost all their hopes.

But, all wasn’t lost for Arsenal at this point as Arsene Wenger sent Aaron Ramsey and Oliver Giroud to replace Mohamed Elneny and Rob Holding. The change was spectacular from Arsenal as Aaron Ramsey scored the equaliser after a sublime pass from Xhaka and Ramsey made no mistake in equalising things for the Gunners.

Then, came the controversial moment of the night as Mesut Ozil handles the ball with a little support from his hand and earned a corner for Arsenal. It was the same corner from where the super-sub Giroud scored that incredible smashing header which saw Arsenal fans jumping on their feet and made whole Emirates Stadium gone crazy.

So, in the end it’s like Leicester always finds themselves short against the super-subs of Arsenal as last time it was Welbeck who came off the bench and scored the winner and again this time a substitute scored the winner as it was Giroud this time around.

Obviously, it’s sad for Foxes to lose all three points after producing an incredible performance against Arsenal but there are many positives which Foxes can take from this defeat and for Arsenal they finally showed that one quality which they’ve been missing all these years and that’s the hunger of not letting things go from their hands and trying hard with their shoulders and heads up till the very last second.

But, what a night we had and that’s why Premier League is the best league in the world.
