Seems like Baahubali 2 is ready to achieve more heights! SS Rajamouli’s Baahubali 2 released earlier this year with various action sequences and an eyeball grabbing storyline. Baahubali 2 easily managed to earn more than Rs. 1000 crore in the country. The film has also broken most of the records on the box-office.

Baahubali has become one of the most viewed movies in the cinema. This response led it to Netflix. Netflix has even bought the streaming rights for Baahubali 2 for a huge amount of Rs 25.5 crore. Now, the biggest hit ever is available in 192 countries through the video on demand service of Netflix. SS Rajamouli and his crew can’t thank the fans more than ever for such support.

CEO of Arya Mediaworks, Shobu Yarlagadda is excited about the news of Netflix buying the streaming rights for Baahubali 2. Arya Mediaworks is the producing company of the film. He said:

“We are very happy and excited to partner with Netflix. Theatrically, it’s not possible to reach all markets, but with this deal, Baahubali will reach 192 countries seamlessly.”

Netflix wants to establish themselves in the Indian Market. They are looking at both original and licensed titles to ramp up their investment in the Indian market. The Vice-president (communications) of Netflix, Jessica Lee explained what made it include Baahubali 2 in their huge collection. Lee said:

“On the content front, we are doubling down on Indian investment to curate a compelling content library encompassing original and licensed titles. We are touching a pool of consumers with a great passion for perse entertainment, offering global originals like Narcos, Stranger Things, The Crown and mainstream, star-driven Indian films that have wide appeal (e.g. our Shah Rukh Khan titles or recent acquisitions of top ones like Dangal and Baahubali).”

Baahubali 2 became the first Indian movie to earn more than Rs. 1000 crore through the silver screens. As the competition of video on demand service is increasing in India, Netflix is looking to beat the Amazon Prime service. Furthermore, they are also receiving the competition from local players, Hotstar and Voot.
