James Cameron is all set to pay a visit to India for promoting the re-release of his 1991 masterpiece ‘Terminator 2’.
Cameron’s sci-fi film is going to release in 3D in India on August 25, 2017. The director is expected to stay in India for one full day. Talking about the matter, the Indian distributor of the movie, Yusuf Shaikh said:
“It (Cameron’s visit to India) is being considered. He will promote the film in China and Japan, so he may stop in India en route. We’ve spoken to the production house (StudioCanal, the studio that distributed the film then) as well as to James Cameron’s team. We’re in the process of working the dates out.”
Yusuf further added that James wants every action hero of Bollywood to come and watch the film with him. Yusuf said:
“He (Cameron) said, why don’t you get all the action heroes of Bollywood and we all can watch it together. We’ll be inviting everyone, from Amitabh Bachchan and Dharmendra to Sunny Deol, Suniel Shetty, Ajay Devgn and Akshay Kumar. The young action heroes — Arjun Kapoor, Tiger Shroff, Sidharth Malhotra and Varun Dhawan are also on the guest list.”
He also talks about why fans should rewatch the film. Talking about it, Yusuf added:
“In those days, there were no Dolby screens. When he sat down to make it a 3D film, he realised there’s so much he can add to it. He feels T2, in its 3D format, is a visual spectacle — (something) that the young generation will enjoy.”
Back in 1991, ‘Terminator 2: The Judgment Day’ was Hollywood’s most expensive film ever. It went onto gross over 520$ million at the worldwide box office which is highest for any Terminator movie till date. The film features Arnold Schwarzenegger and Linda Hamilton in the lead roles.
