This is going to be the 26th Barclays Premier League campaign since its establishment in 1992 and no wonder after all these years one thing is and always will be the same and that is the passion and excitement before the start of a new season. But, there are many superstars who are going to miss not just the Premier League opener but many games of this month.
It’s always important to have a good start because early matches are the most important ones because fans are waiting for their favourite teams all these months and also after some big transfers going out or coming in. The opening match of the premier league is very-very important for the fans and for the club to make a statement.
But, this time there are many important players of many clubs who aren’t going to feature in the opening fixture of Barclays Premier League and also in some of the matches of this month. The clubs with most players out injured are as follows:
5) Leicester City:
Leicester City is going to play the Community Shield winners Arsenal in their opening fixture and with Foxes going on a hunt at Emirates stadium. They are somewhere short in terms of weapons this time as their star midfielder Danny Drinkwater is injured because of a Thigh Strain and is expected to return in the middle of August.
Their newly transferred youngster Kelechi Iheanacho is also doubtful for the opener because of a foot injury but expecting a return for their second match.
With Robert Huth also being sidelined till September following an ankle injury, there’s slightly good news for Leicester fans that Slimani is going to be available for the second fixture of Leicester City against newly-promoted Brighton & Hove Albion.
Everton was in the top of newspapers for all good reasons as Ronald Koeman signed Wayne Rooney and Sandro from Barcelona. This time also they are in the top of newspapers but for a worrying reason as Lennon (Knock), McCarthy (Knee Injury) and Coleman (Broken Leg) are out for almost 2-3 months and still no news of their return has come. Barkley (Groin Strain) is expecting a return at the end of this month.
Funes Mori (Cartilage Knee Injury) is expecting a return next year as his injury is very serious and same is for Bolasie (ACL Knee Injury) who is expecting a return in January next year.
3) West Ham United:
Hammers aren’t looking much strong as they’re going to play some of their opening matches without some of their star players as their 7 first team players are out injured. Cresswell is out because of his muscle injury but may come for their second match against Southampton.
Lanzini is also out and is expecting a return in the second match as Argentine is out because of his knee injury. Feghouli is out with hamstring injury while Kouyate have knee injury and both players are expecting to come at the end of this month.
Antonio is going to be available probably at the middle of this month as he’s out because of his hamstring injury. Sakho is out because of back injury and Carroll is out because of groin strain and both players are expecting a return at the end of this month.
Liverpool was almost unstoppable in their Pre-Season but is going to be on the field against Watford without some of their star players as Henderson (Illness), Clyne (Hamstring Injury) and Sturridge (Thigh Strain) are expecting a return in their second match against Crystal Palace.
Lallana is the latest name on this list and still nothing has been said about his returning date. There’s no update on Bogdan’s injury also but Ings is expecting a return at the end of this month.
Last but not the least Coutinho is also out because of a back injury and will be available for their second match but ONLY if he’ll say no to Barcelona.
It seems like their club is cursed and they should do some sacred ritual for their club and training centre. It seems like their club is possessed by some witchcraft for the illness of their players because it’s insane to see how many times their players get injured when the situations weren’t that bad.
Alexis Sanchez (Abdominal Injury) and Gabriel (MCL Knee Ligament Injury) are expecting a return at the end of this month. With, Ozil (Ankle Injury), Ramsey (Calf Muscle Injury), Wilshere (Broken Leg) and Mertesacker (Eye injury) all are expecting a return for the second match of Arsenal against Stoke City.
Coquelin (Ankle Injury) is expecting a return in their third fixture against arch-rivals Liverpool but Cazorla seems to be going out for a long time as no date has been given by the medical staff on his Plantaris Injury.
That’s all for this time and Arsenal didn’t disappoint us as they again top the Injury-list. So, as we suspect there are many big players who aren’t going to feature in the opening fixture of their respective clubs. But, this will not press down our excitement for the new season of Barclays Premier League because it’s about the biggest league in the world.
