July 20th, a day that will always be remembered, as one of the most tragic days for Linkin Park fans.

That is due to the fact that, on this particular day Linkin Park’s lead singer Chester Bennington committed suicide, leaving the entire world in absolute shock.

Chester hung himself in his private residence in Los Angeles, County. Chester Bennington, along with Linkin Park played a major role in keeping Rock music in the mainstream in 2000s, making Linkin Park one of the most influential modern day bands.

Whether it was Chester’s angelic singing voice, or his ground breaking screams, everything about him was the reason why Linkin Park turned out to be such a successful rock band and gained international fame.

In 2000, Linkin Park released their first studio album that goes by the name of Hybrid Theory and turned out to be a massive success. Hybrid Theory, has sold over 30 million copies worldwide, while selling around 11 million copies in the US alone, where it is also certified Diamond.

Recently since Linkin Park came out with their latest album named One More Light. There were a lot of fans that were dissatisfied with the album, and the band’s change in sound. Chester didn’t seem to handle the backlash well, as he bashed all the fans that criticized the album.

Now, we have come to the realization that One More Light might have been something more than we thought it was. Bennington was deep down in the dark while coming off with the things that he said with that album. His anger might be hiding all of the things that made him suffer. His struggles with alcohol and drugs have also been a major aspect that may have contributed in this suicide.

Chester had spoken about his drug and alcohol addiction, as well as depression. “My whole life, I’ve just felt a little off,” he said in an interview earlier this year with Music Choice. “I find myself getting into these patterns of  behavior or thought – especially when I’m stuck up here [in my head]; I like to say that, ‘This is like a bad neighborhood, and I should not go walking alone.’”

Chester committed suicide on his good friend, Chris Cornell’s birthday, and did it in the same way as Cornell did 2 months ago; people have been suspecting that Cornell’s death might have also played a key role in Chester’s action.

We may never find out the exact reason, as to why he did what he did. All we know for now is that we lost one of the best rock vocalists of the 21st century. Rest In Peace Chester!
