India will probably get two diesel engines and one petrol engine for the new 5-Series. The two diesel variants – that makes 187 BHP and 400 Nm and second version makes 261 BHP and 620 Nm. It will get a 2.0 L and a 3.0 L diesel engine respectively whereas the petrol 5 gets a 3.0 L engine that makes 249 BHP and 350 Nm. All the variants come with standardized 8-speed automatic transmission.
Exterior design `
The new BMW 5 series design aesthetics are borrowed from the flagship 7-Series sedan. The BMW so called signature “Kidney Grille” is now much larger and sits more upright leading to neat flow of head lamps.
The overall look has lots of inspiration from the older version but what’s most noticeable is the headlights, tail lamps and fog lamps which have full LED fittings. The sedan is based on CLAR – Cluster Architecture platform which means using of light weight material due to which overall weight of car has fallen down.
The car will have inclusion of aero kit and performance upgrades along with lower suspension and larger wheels and tyres. The sides feature a 7-Series like vent behind the front wheel arch with chrome or black detailing based on the trim.
It’s obvious and needless to say that like the exteriors same way the interiors of the BMW 5-Series has revolutionized compared to the previous models design.
The changes in form of increased dimensions translating to greater leg space for the rear passengers and multi contour massage seats which surely cannot go unnoticed. The car will have 6.0 infotainment systems with gesture controls, voice control and heads up display will be evident along with 16 speakers, 600 watt Harmon Kardon sound system.
It includes Safety features like available of driver assistance and safety equipment with radar cruise control, lane departure warning system and lane keeping assist. The parking has been now made safer through 3D surround view and Park Now parking reservation system. Indian drivers will love the car as they are predominantly chauffeur driven.
2017 BMW 5-Series Base Model will cost around RS 55 lakhs whereas, 2017 BMW 5-Series Top Model will cost around Rs. 65 lakh.
